| From when to when did she work for you: | 2022-2025 |
| Why is she no longer employed? | The kids started creche |
| What were her Duties? | Her main duties were looking after the children. First our eldest, and then when the second one came, there was a brief period of about three months where she looked after both of them before my eldest went to school. She fed them, bathed them, and basically did everything related to the children.
She also made food for us in the afternoons. She said she was able to do that as well, so she managed to cook most days. On days when things were a bit rough and the kids were sick, we told her to leave the food and we’d make it ourselves. Other than that, she cooked every day. Once a week she also ironed and washed the children’s clothes. That wasn’t initially one of her main duties, but she took it on herself to do it. |
| How was her personality at work? | She was always friendly and helpful.
I work from home, and sometimes I’d make myself coffee but then get called back to my laptop before finishing it. She would notice, pour the hot water, and bring me my coffee. She was very thoughtful. We really miss her. If money hadn’t been an issue, we would have kept her because both we and the kids loved having her with us. |
| What would you say your former employee needs more training in? | I told her it was communication. She was initially afraid to ask difficult questions or speak up. That was something we worked on together.
By the end, her communication became much better. It was really only during the first couple of months that it was difficult to find out what was going on, but eventually she became comfortable asking anything. |
| What did she excel in? | She was very driven to teach the kids, and that was amazing. She always liked taking on something new and teaching it to them. When our children got to primary school, the teachers commented that they were ahead rather than behind.
She was also very caring. The love she showed the children was amazing. |
| Loyalty to her work? | Very loyal |
| Was she mostly on time for work? | Yes, she was a stay-in |
| How was her personality towards the animals in the house? | The dogs absolutely loved her. They’re not big dogs, but every time she comes back after spending the weekend away, they would get so excited to see her. |
| Her thoroughness? | |
| How many days in a week did she work? | 5 days a week |
| Did she cook? Example of the meals? | Yes, things like chicken à la king, beef stroganoff, lasagna, and bolognese. Nice food |
| Did she give notice when she resigned/ if applicable? | She did not need to serve notice; we had to let her go when the kids were ready for school. |
| Would you recommend her services? | Yes |
| Communication skills? | They are great now, we did have to teach her to ask for her when she needed besides that it is great. |
| Family 2: | Kruger Family |
| From when to when did she work for you: | She started working with us around late 2015 or early 2016, shortly after my twins were born. She was employed as the children’s nanny. Later, when the children started school, she stayed on as our domestic worker while still caring for the children when they were home. |
| Why is she no longer employed? | We had to let her go because we immigrated to the United Kingdom. Before we left, we managed to find her another job with another family where she continued working as a nanny. |
| What were her Duties? | Her main responsibility was looking after my twins. They were still babies when she started, so she did everything related to caring for them. As they got older, she played with them, taught them songs, and made learning and cleaning up their toys fun. Later on, she also assisted with domestic duties. |
| How was her personality at work? | She’s a saint. She has the patience of a saint. She is loving, caring, kind, generous, and everything she did was centred around the children. She was honestly the best fit we ever found for our kids. |
| What would you say your former employee needs more training in? | As far as childcare goes, I couldn’t really say she needs any training. Perhaps an educational course could benefit her, but my children were babies when she cared for them, so I can’t really comment beyond that. |
| What did she excel in? | She was absolutely amazing. She has the patience of a saint and loved my children as if they were her own. She was very punctual, attentive, and everything she did was about what was best for the children. She would be an asset to anyone who employs her as a nanny. |
| Did anything go missing while she worked for you? Did she borrow money | Not that I can recall. Nothing ever went missing, and I don’t remember her ever borrowing money. |
| Was she mostly on time for work? | Yes. I don’t recall her ever being late. There were also times when she stayed later than she needed to. |
| Her thoroughness? | Her work was always thorough. I never had any complaints or any issues that needed to be addressed. |
| How many days in a week did she work? | She worked Monday to Friday. |
| Did she give notice when she resigned/ if applicable? | N/A |
| Communication skills? | Generally, her communication was good. There was a time when she wasn’t comfortable asking for a salary increase, and I encouraged her to speak up for herself. After that, I think she became more confident. When it came to work, the children, or the house, she communicated well. If she needed anything, she would either tell me or leave me a note. We would also discuss ideas she had for activities with the children. |
| Would you recommend her services? | Absolutely, 100%. She would be an asset to any family. She loved my children as if they were her own. As first-time parents, we were extremely worried about leaving our babies with someone else, especially with all the stories going around at the time about nannies mistreating children. My husband interviewed Happiness first, and he immediately told me, “She is the one.” He was absolutely right. It has never been a regret. She has been an absolute gem. If I could have, I would have brought her with us to the United Kingdom. My children still ask about her today. She is truly amazing, and I would recommend her without hesitation. |
